Over the coming weeks I will be writing a series on a variety of Herman Miller Workchairs. This week I will be discussing the Herman Miller “Celle” workchair. The chair was designed by Jerome Caruso. He stated that the Celle chair was the “Mount Everest of fun”. The chair itself follows the lead of the Herman Miller Mirra and Aeron workchairs. The chair was designed to be extremely durable. The design itself allows for heavy use of the chair in a variety of demanding environments from the office to hospital workstations. The chair is highly ergonomic and suits many body shapes and sizes. Pressure Distribution The backrest of the chair has a passive postureFit contour. In the design process designer Caruso used pressure mapping capabilities to inform the design of the cellular size, flex regions, and contouring to ensure excellent pressure distribution. Thermal comfort During the design process temperature sensors were used to decide which upholstery and textile option worked best for the chair. Durability The material of the celle chair is very durable and is therefore an excellent choice for demanding work settings. The Celle chair offers high-performance, long-term seating with a full complement of adjustments and innovative suspension – for all types of work computer, general office work and casual or formal meetings.
